10 Things Everyone Should Know About Google Places
By now, you’ve heard that you need to claim your Google Places listing and it’s easy to see why. Google Places is one of the easiest and cheapest (i.e. FREE) ways to promote your dealership online and help your website’s SEO.
Here are 10 things everyone should know about Google Places and how you can set your store apart from the competition.
1. Be consistent with your listing across the board. If your website lists your address as “Avenue,” don’t list your address on Google Places as “Ave.” Google doesn’t understand it’s an abbreviation.
2. List your local number. As tempting as it may be to post a toll free number so you can gauge the effectiveness of your listing, you should always use your local number.
3. Add Photos. Google lets you add 10 photos. The first photo should be your logo. The rest of the photos should be of your dealership, showroom and customer lounge. Be sure to include specials, promotions and incentives as well and change them monthly.
4. Add Video. After you post your commercial on your YouTube channel, copy the link to your Google Places account. It’s one more place potential customers can learn more about your dealership.
5. Include Service and Sales Hours. Google Places lets you add two sets of hours. Take advantage of this feature by posting your Service and Sales hours of operation.
6. Create Offers. We know that your “Specials” pages are among the most visited on your website. Create service and sales offers within your listing and update them monthly.
7. List your Social Media links. Under “Additional Details” Google lets you list other details about your business. This is a great place to promote your social media URLs.
