Situation
Used-vehicle prices have been on upswing for most of 2010
A dip in SUV / truck pricing likely in 2nd half of 2010
Upward movement in compact car / midsize car prices expected to remain

Upswing in midsize car prices likely to be 0.9% in 3rd and 0.4% in 4th
Significant Points
Rise in used-vehicle prices has started to diminish
Could mean used market has hit "point of equilibrium"
Lack of used inventory has been biggest catalyst in pushing used values up
Robust used pricing isn't expected to stick around in every vehicle category
Gas prices steadily increased since Jan 2009; hasn't influenced consumer behavior
Brands currently "bucking the trend": Ford, Kia, Infiniti
Says
"While values for used vehicles have consistently strengthened through much of 2010 (values are up 6.2 percent year-over-year), the slowing pace of appreciation may be an indication that the market has reached a point of equilibrium." -- Juan Flores, director of vehicle valuation, Kelley Blue Book
